Affect Therapeutics Joins King County Integrated Care Network to Expand Access to Digital Substance Use Disorder Treatment
Affect Therapeutics, the leading provider of fully virtual, evidence-based substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, is proud to announce its acceptance into the King County Integrated Care Network (KCICN), significantly expanding access to care for Medicaid beneficiaries in King County, Washington.
King County—home to over 2.3 million residents and encompassing Seattle and its surrounding communities—is the most populous county in Washington State. With more than 400,000 Medicaid enrollees, the county faces growing demand for accessible, high-quality behavioral health services. Affect will now be available to meet this need through its smartphone-based treatment platform, bringing comprehensive support directly to people’s phones.
The KCICN is a progressive partnership between the King County Behavioral Health and Recovery Division (BHRD) and local community-based organizations. It is designed to improve outcomes for individuals with complex behavioral health needs by integrating care and expanding treatment options. Affect’s inclusion in the network adds a digital-first solution for those seeking treatment for opioid, stimulant, alcohol, and cannabis use disorders.
“We’re honored to join the King County Integrated Care Network and support the county’s bold efforts to increase access and equity in behavioral health,” said Kristin Muhlner, CEO of Affect Therapeutics. “Our model meets people where they are, and it provides the clinical, peer, and technological support they need to recover and thrive.”
Affect’s fully virtual treatment model combines licensed therapy, medication-assisted treatment, care coordination, and one-on-one peer support, all delivered remotely through a HIPAA-compliant mobile app. Since its launch in 2022, Affect has helped almost 15,000 individuals begin and sustain recovery.
King County residents enrolled in Medicaid who are seeking support for substance use can now access Affect’s services through the KCICN provider network. Individuals can be referred by a provider or enroll directly through the Affect app.
